2. How to Join

If you are using the Web App, skip to Step 2. For Native Apps (Mobile/PC), follow all steps:

Point to the Server
Open the app. It will default to "matrix.org". Click Edit or Change Server.
Enter: https://fireplaced.party

The "Logg inn" Screen
You will see a welcome screen. Click the blue button labeled Logg inn.

The "Fortsett" Button
The next screen confirms the server is fireplaced.party.
Click the white button labeled Fortsett (Continue).
(Note: Our login system currently defaults to Norwegian. Just follow the buttons!)

Authentik SSO
You will be redirected to our secure Authentik portal. Select either Google or Discord to sign in.

❓ Where are the rooms?

When you first log in, you will automatically be added to our #general room! However, for specific private rooms or game channels, you must wait for an invite from a friend. Once invited, accept it to join the channel.

3. 🔐 Security Warning (Critical)

Set up your Recovery Key

When you log in, your device generates unique encryption keys. To ensure you can access your chat history on future devices (like when you buy a new phone), you must back them up.

Go to: Settings -> Encryption -> Set up recovery

Save the key. Put it in your password manager.
If you lose your phone and don't have this key, you cannot read your old messages on a new device.
The Admin cannot help you. The server never sees your unencrypted text.

💡 Pro Tip: Any logged-in device that has your keys can Verify a new device. Verifying a session automatically shares the encryption keys, so you don't need to manually type in the recovery key if you have your old phone or PC nearby.

How does Fireplaced compare to Discord?
